Trans* and non-binary identities in picture books and comics are different in many ways. We are looking for stories about people, of which little is said.
This lecture is about trans* and genderqueer realities in picture books and comics. Which characters break with female and male stereotypes? Which trans*ident, we encounter non-binary characters (at all)? Which stories are there and which ones do we miss? What do we wish for?
Together we take a look at children's books and comics (from manga to graphic novels) and also look at empowering examples. Afterwards there will be room for exchange.
We are mehr_blick and are passionate about books for young people. That's why we're constantly on a journey of discovery for great stories, denen wir als Kids would have liked to meet myself.
Among other things, Tâm* is gender*queer and a person of color. Tamo * is among other things white , Parent of two teenagers, non-binary trans* and from East Germany.
