In the autobiographical graphic novel Ching Chang Stop the author Dian Gohring invites the readership, to understand, how it is, being subjected to anti-Asian racism. Different scenes from different periods of life illustrate, what lasting and destructive effect everyday racism has on those affected. But in the end, the focus is on self-empowerment and hope. Practical tips, how to defend yourself and find contact options in the community, complete the book written and drawn for young people.
Dian Gohring studied communication design in Trier. She dedicated her thesis to the topic of everyday racism and in doing so provides very personal insights into her life. This is how the graphic novel came about Ching Chang Stop, which became her first book publication. The author is currently concentrating on her master's degree in illustration at the HAW in Hamburg.
